چکیده
Inconel 718 is considered the most widely adopted nickel-based superalloy, and drilling of this alloy always challenging for researchers. Cemented carbide twist drills have been evaluated in by changing cutting environment or varying tool geometry. In latter case, speed has extended from 30 m/min to 60 when are micro-textured ground. study, contrary cemented drills, first time, inserts named stepped (central) peripheral (wiper) alloy. The central insert designed balanced forces, while a wiper better surface finish. Drilling experiments conducted flood cooling conditions with 12 mm diameter drill equipped novel at speeds (25, 35, 45 m/min) feed rates (0.04, 0.06, 0.08 mm/rev). At (Vc) 25 rate (f) 0.04 mm/rev, holes drilled roughness (Ra) values ranging 0.40 µm 0.60 µm, which represents significant increase number per improved finish over previous work. new showed almost three-fold longer life compared standard bit higher Vc mm/rev f an Ra between 0.22 0.43 deemed acceptable aerospace applications. addition, minimal sub-surface defects were observed, eliminating need post-drilling finishing operation; therefore, one-step operation was achieved.

متن کاملCharacterization of strain induced precipitation in Inconel 718 superalloy
Inconel 718 is a Ni-Cr-Fe superalloy which presents excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures, as well as good corrosion resistance and weldability. These characteristics can be optimized with an appropriate control of microstructural features such as grain size and precipitation. Precipitates of different nature can form in these alloys, i.e. γ’’ (a metastable metallic compound Ni3N...

متن کاملLaser-assisted machining of Inconel 718 with carbide and ceramic inserts
The use of high strength materials, like titanium alloys and tool steels, is becoming increasingly common in industry. However, these materials are difficult to machine because they maintain their mechanical properties even at high temperatures. Hence, conventional machining (CM) of these materials is slow and inefficient because only slow cutting speeds can be used. In order to increase produc...
